- The maturing of Internet-based technology has changed the dynamics of economics of information (content-rich messages online can be sent at low cost and to niche markets), the economies of scale (minimalized—think 3D printing with design being sent online to be manufactured close to consumption, minimizing transportation costs), diminishing returns to scales (lessening because of lower costs to build sticky relationships), and a faster reacting (quarterly vs yearly planning) splintered supply chain ( almost every phase of production can occur in different locations).
- SUGGESTED CORPORATE & CAREER POSITIONS: Be nimble. Keep on top of and utilize the latest technologies. Adapt to/plan for short term employment. Be innovative about retraining existing personnel or being retrained.
